 June, 2024 - Renew Your Mind

Dr. Deborah Moon, along with her collaborator Dr. John Wallace received a 2024 pilot program grant on race and mental health jointly funded by the Center for Race and Social Problems (CRSP) and The Center for Research on Innovations in Services and Equity in Mental Health. The study titled "Renew Your Mind: A Feasibility Study to Disseminate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Techniques through Black churches to Promote the Positive Mental Health of African American Populations" is a new partnership between the CHURCH project and the CHAPEL project, which is a collaboration between Bible Center Church, A Second Chance, Inc. (ASCI), and the Allegheny County Department of Human Services. Read more about the Renew Your Mind study here.

 May, 2024 - Empowering Smiles: Well-being in Dental Care

Hyunjin Lee (Principal Investigator) received funding from the International Studies Fund to conduct her student research project focusing on oral healthcare access for Pittsburgh immigrants. As the faculty advisor, Dr. Deborah Moon will provide mentoring and guidance for the project.

March 7, 2024 - "Flourishing AAPI Communities and Beyond: Developing Cross-Cultural Awareness, Advocacy, and Alliance."

The University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) - PA chapter co-hosted an AAPI Mental Health Symposium titled "Flourishing AAPI Communities and Beyond: Developing Cross-Cultural Awareness, Advocacy, and Alliance."

March 5, 2024 - 2024 Partnerships of Distinction Award

The CHURCH project team received a 2024 Partnerships of Distinction Award on March 5th at the Annual Community Engaged Scholarship Forum hosted by the Office of Engagement and Community Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh!
